The Maltese Civil Code comprises and aims “to amend and consolidate the Laws relating to Persons and the Laws respecting rights relative of Things and the different modes of acquiring and transmitting such rights”. The Maltese code can thus be said to deal with Private law which is that part of a legal system which involves relationships between individuals, such as the law of contracts or torts or the law of obligations and property law amongst others.
